David is a family man who worked as a fitter/turner at the Army Base Repair Organisation (ABRO) formerly the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME). He had also worked at Weir Pumps, where he was made redundant, and the Glass Works . A lover of the outdoors, he spent much of his spare time hill walking, cycling and canoeing. David was a very fit person.

He and his wife Ann had three boys and there was a new addition to the family, a longed for daughter. So far so good.

Imagine then the day that all hell broke loose. David had been feeling unwell and this was attributed to 'flu. When he fainted, and failed to come round, he was rushed to Stirling Royal Infirmary. Ann says,

FlowersAt first they could not find what was wrong. The next thing I am being told,
"There is no hope for your husband, he is seriously ill"
and then he went into a coma.

This is David's Story.
